Former national idol confesses she dropped out of university after just 2 days after studying for 12 hours a day to get in

Watanabe Miho, ex member of Hinatazaka46, appearead on a talk show where she revealed for first time that she dropped out of university after just two days.
"I became an idol in the summer of my third year of high school, so I announced that I would become an idol right in the middle of the entrance examination period, but my parents told me, 'If you don't go to university, we won't allow you to.'
She continued, "Thankfully, I got busy immediately, so on the second day of going to university, I thought, 'Oh, I can't go to this,' and my heart broke, but I quit".

1. There are people who are performing while attending college, and there are various ways to suspend performing until graduation, so I think there was a way to consult with parents and the office.
On the other hand, I also wonder about the old-fashioned idea that going to college is a prerequisite for continuing one's entertainment career. It's too late now, but you should have talked to your parents and the office earlier. (+2175)

2. It's her own life, as long as she and her parents are satisfied with it.
In her case, the condition for continuing as an idol was to go on to college, and once she fulfilled that condition, she wanted to focus completely on being an idol.
Of course she probably felt sorry for her parents, and they may have wanted her to study hard for four years at university.
That is something that only they themselves can understand.

Other people's opinions are irrelevant, after all her current entertainment life is the result of that decision. Besides, I think it turned out pretty well for her, she's got some starring roles in movies and so on.  (+250)

3. When you go to an advanced school, it's normal for everyone around you to go to college, so you study for the entrance exams and enter college as if you were swept along with the flow. But once you actually enter, you may find something you want to do more, or you may change universities for the job you are aiming for, or you may choose to quit. Whether that is for a day, a week, or a year, I don't think you have a choice. If you are willing to take the risk of quitting college, I think you are free to do so. If you've found something you really want to do and you're doing well enough to make a living off of it, I think your parents would forgive you. If you've thought about what you want to do in college properly, I think quitting is a good idea. Besides, I'm sure all the hard work you put into the college application process will come in handy someday. (+418)

4. I think it is possible to choose not to go to college. She worked hard and got accepted, but she was just more interested in idol work.
You never know where you will find your true calling in life, and if you are lucky enough to become an entertainer and find something you want to do rather than study or do business in general, I think you should go ahead and pursue that path. It's a risk you have to take. (+238)

5. I think Bemiho is fundamentally a very clever person.
She used to do a project on a certain YouTube channel where one could buy any book they wanted and I was surprised by her attitude of greedily absorbing books, from serious to difficult ones, saying "I love bookstores."
I think she might even try college again after she settles down. (+6)

6. I graduated from college and got a regular job, but decades later, I wish I had studied harder. Plus, entertainers who only graduated from high school seem to feel some kind of shame. I think she should have at least taken a leave of absence. (+18)

7. Watanabe is a single-mind kind of person, so she wasn't suited for balancing college and being an artist. On the contrary, her genmate Kanemura Miku is performing while attending university. (However, Kanemura is so powerful that she eats steak in the morning, so).

In terms of results, this was a good decision for her, though, cause she is on her way to forge a good career as an actress. (+76)

8. There are a few people like this who quit after a short period of time, but the entrance fee is several hundred thousand yen, and there are students who did not get in because this person was accepted.
I think it would've been a good idea to have a proper conversation and consultation with the parents before entering the school. She made a very drastic move, if I had a friend who was in the same situation, I would be slightly taken back.
Worst case scenario, after being accepted she could've made her point to her parents and not enroll.
There were a lot of options. (+266)
