Timelesz Announces Large-Scale Fan Meeting — Fans Push Back: “Don't Become an Easily Accessible Idol, It Lowers Your Value”

Ahead of their album release after their rebrand as a new 8 member group, the announcement of this large-scale event was made. As the news spread online, while some fans expressed joy at the chance to meet them, surprisingly, many reacted with a more indifferent tone.

“Sorry... this feels kind of lame,”

“They’re giving off underground idol vibes lol,”

“Isn't the whole point of Johnny’s that they seem just out of reach? I seriously wish they'd do this under a different agency.”

For fans of groups under STARTO Entertainment, the real thrill lies in going to live venues to see their sparkling idols from afar, waving penlights and fans (uchiwa) while enjoying the singing and dancing. The shift toward becoming “idols you can meet” — a direction different from what they were known for — seems to be causing a sense of rejection among fans.

Even if they complain, they'll still go, so it's fine.

I get that they’re being heavily promoted right now, but how much has their actual popularity increased? Have their CD sales gone up?

Doesn't this group kind of stick out? If they were under a different agency, it probably wouldn’t be a problem at all.

These guys again? There's a new topic about them every day

Guess they brought in some amateurs to make fans feel closer, huh?

8 handsome guys

>> That dude called Puma? (like the sneakers, lol) just looks like a pufferfish to me, maybe it's my farsightedness.

>> Honestly, out of all the groups in Starto right now, they’ve got the highest visual score, don’t they?

I guess their strategy is just to go with anything that’ll get them attention, no matter the method.

Of course, with more members, their exposure has skyrocketed. I bet the original members must feel kinda complicated, like, "Why didn’t they push us like this from the start?" I'm not sure, but did they get much promotion when they debuted?

With so many idols who can sing and dance, they have to do something different or they'll lose their fans.

But yeah, with a new approach to selling, it's probably tough. There’s been so much change, like agency drama and generational shifts. The original members of Sexy Zone must be feeling the pressure, especially with the new members coming in.

There have been fan meetings from so many groups since the Johnny’s days, though, so why is it a problem now all of a sudden...?

12. [+103, -15]

If people who want to go can apply, then what's the problem? For those who want to go, it’s probably an exciting event. People complaining without even trying it probably just don’t like the group to begin with.

13. [+123, -4]

Sexy Zone's long-time fans must feel pretty complicated about it.

14. [+46, -36]

Huh? Wouldn’t you be happy about a fan meeting? Hug events or high-touch events are a bit complicated, but fan meetings are something even actors do. I stan a different group, but honestly, I’m jealous — if my faves did a fan meeting, I’d definitely wanna go!

15. [+37, -9]

If they could go themselves, everyone would be happy. But most people can’t, and they can’t stand the idea of just a small group getting to meet them up close. Of course there are complaints — it’s only making a few people happy, so all the rest are basically jealous.
